The Bill Dayton Big Band has performed for over three decades.  Throughout those years, there have been many special events for which the band has played...fund raiser for the Pennsylvania Monument on the actual battlefield in Gettysburg...grand opening to Pen Mar Park (near Ft. Richie, MD), an historic park re-built and redicated...and so many other wonderful events.  Some of these events the band has sponsored.

We have begun this webpage to bring these past special events to you, and we have dedicated this page to the man whose picture you see to the right, the late Frederick James "Fred" Neal, the man who wrote the poem that became world famous during World War II -  "The White Ciffs Of Dover".

You will need RealPlayer to play these VIDEO clips.  Get a FREE RealPlayer by clicking here.

Please note that the following video files are very large, and so if you do not have a broadband internet connection (e.g., DSL, cable, etc), then you probably do not want to try to download these.  If you do have broadband, the wait will be 30 seconds or less per clip.

SPECIAL EVENT  - 01:  Celebration of Fred Neal - Poet of "The White Cliffs Of Dover"

  1. Sandy introduces the emcee, Tom Phillips, retired radio personality and host of the popular radio show "The Sounds Of Jazz".
  2. Tom Phillips speaks of Fred Neal.
  3. Ruth Neal, Fred's wife, says a few words.
  4. The vocalists are introduced.
  5. The song "The White Cliffs Of Dover" is sung.

SPECIAL EVENT - 02: Baltimore Zoo "FUN" Raiser - Official fundraiser for the Baltimore Zoo.

Camden Yards (home of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team) was the site of this fun dance.  The Bill Dayton Big Band shared the evening with another band, the fine Baltimore-based rock band, Appaloosa, with the two bands alternating on the hour.  The dance was held on the 4th floor MVP Lounge, a beautiful facility overlooking Baltimore.  The entire event was coordinated by Carol Amersbach and sponsored by Olson Wire Products of Baltimore, MD.
